Working in the Theatre: Direction and Writing - Appropriate
Переглядів 6 тис.21 день тому
The partnership and trust between a playwright and a director are vital for the success of a play, but this is especially unique when they're tied as friends and colleagues for years. The story of the Broadway production of Appropriate might just be one of those great collaboration tales in the history of theatre. And thus, as writer Branden Jacobs-Jenkins and director Lila Neugebauer share the...

Quasimodo and Mozart ❤
I don't know why but every time I see Tom Hulce, he reminded me of Mark Hamill
God, I miss working with you!!!!!!!
You are brilliant. I will work with you any day any time
Magnificent 🎉
Loved this study. Wish the clips of Rhys and Franz were of the real cast though
I was just born those year's he made the made for movie adaptation of Mozart and I fell in love. Wanting to watch it over and over again. But really ge brings the real Mozart to life. And Mozart has always been my favorite composer so i adored him and his great humor and looks. 🎉❤ wonderfully studied and act. My cousin is an actor ,her name is Angelica Ortiz and plays elena in Lincoln lawyer and ive been watching both back to back on Netflix.. but sadly i think the depiction is going off soon. God bless Tom
👋 Hello! Hope you're liking my likings 👍😊. Who are you? 🧠🛃,🪖,☂️, or just a 🤡?
The first girl should start a career in pop music. Her voice is amazing.
Musical theater is NOT a lower class art form. In fact, the older musicals are not only classy, but offer a dynamic experience for everyone. Think Les Mis, Gypsy, and Chicago. It's the modern Disney rehashes and musicals made from trashy movie comedies that are lower class (not the actors, but the quality of the shows themselves). Producers apparently want dumb down audiences coz they don't want to finance real musicals like those written by Sondhiem or Chaude Michelle Shomberg. They just want quick bucks. Very sad for the next generation, as they're really missing out.
I love listening to him speak because he sounds extravagant and not in a flashy way. No camp. But very luxurious, and luxe, and deliberate, and thoroughly furnished!
Word is he was originally going to play John Doe on Seven before Spacey.
I am here after hearing him laugh as mozart😂, he is so cute
His voice 😍😍
wow. so helpful. love this episode.
This resource is invaluable and inspiring. Thank you for this!
this is my dream job
I love all of Branden's plays, but now equally obsessed with the work of Lila. What a team!
ahhh
I really enjoyed Appropriate. The design elements that they're speaking of are really important to this show and truly make this particular production of the show very unique.
Great episode as always!!!
❤
I would argue that aquaintance with music of various genres (not necessarily Classical music)might be of use to an aspiring playwright.
What a nice treat. I’ve been in theatrical college for several semesters doing lighting and this is such a recap of the possibilities. It’s the pot at the end of the rainbow. Thank you for this wonderful gift of production.
Still beautiful ❤
He'll be a household name very soon
I really want to thank the American Theatre Wing for this channel. You have provided me with education and insight in to theatre. I’d also like to extend my gratitude to the gracious teachers here who have been willing to share their expertise and wisdom.
Bruce Parrish How do you keep the costumes together to know what show they belong to? Love the videos!
Interesting
Fantastic!
First
But were you the first one here in the comments to go to Wicked?
Tf u yapping about I didn’t order a yapochino😂😂😂
Very very interesting! So much respect and appreciation for those who do this work. TFS
Maren Mazzie would be proud.
Love him! And that the roles he has chosen since the making of this clip are: The Poop Emoji movie, and the boss in American Dad 😂 Shows a sense of joy and versatility from Waiting for Godot
So sad hus parents are not around to see this. Congratulations to him.
Great ,Amazing John Cullum ! Fantastic Actor !!!My Favorite !!!❤❤❤👋
i love the blue shirt man!!
Fascinating! Thanks for posting.
I really enjoyed this. I'm a local dresser; the touring shows come to my town and I'm hired for the run of a show to do all the dressing responsibilities described in the video. Local dressers only get an hour and a half advance notice of what they need to do during the show. We don't get to practice our track - even the quick changes. We really count on the actors to walk us through the changes. My daughter, who was a dresser for My Fair Lady with me last year, watched a moment of this video over my shoulder and commented about how much space and light they have compared to what we work with. It is a challenging job, but it is the most fun I've ever had!

This was an amazingly well produced documentary about something I didn't know existed behind the scenes!

So proud of you!
I love this so much! I'm a header and couture sewer too, so this is ultra inspiring to me! This woman is AMAZING and I am so grateful to her for sharing a little about her beading career! The feather guy is a joy too! I've really enjoyed this!
1:07:57 "Influential in what way?" "Like, influenced you.... like-"
Irene Wiley a con artist manipulator😮
You should edit out the exposure of magic secrets! Not good!
I hope someone makes an updated series like this sometime soon! These are very helpful videos. But things are always changing in the industry and it would be so helpful!!
Waaaaay before she was Jukebox from RK...❤❤❤
I love her beautiful singing voice...❤❤❤ Classic from 2019...🩷🩷🩷
